Christine Whalen, Attorney at Law

Pacific Elder Law was founded by attorney Christine Whalen. Christine began thinking about the challenges families face caring for aging loved ones from experience in her own family. Some years ago, her grandfather's ailing health led to his moving in with her parents for several years and ultimately to his residing in an assisted living facility. Christine saw the need for holistic planning that addresses the legal, financial, and emotional needs of individuals and families. Pacific Elder Law grew out of her desire to provide "big picture" planning by considering how the aging can stay at home as long as possible, be as comfortable as possible, and still honor their desire to leave a legacy.

Christine graduated from Dartmouth College with a degree in English Literature, and later received a master's degree from the University of California at Berkeley, and her law degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. Christine was admitted to the State Bar of California in 2001, and has worked in civil litigation and with children and families in the juvenile dependency courts. She is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, an association of attorneys dedicated to improving the quality of legal services provided to seniors and people with special needs. She is also a member of Elder Counsel, a national organization of elder law and special needs planning lawyers.

When she's not practicing law, Christine enjoys hiking, reading, writing, and yoga.
